Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

This position requires a highly motivated self-starter with knowledge in the fabrication, assembly, system integration, and testing of hardware. The candidate will be involved in assisting other NG sectors and suppliers with conducting Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA), collaborating with lab partners, and executing the startup of a new program. The candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, have the ability to be task oriented and communicate effectively with varying levels of NGC, Supplier employees and leadership.

Fluent in the standard manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, and material handling. Develops manufacturing processes and procedures when one does not exist.  Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations. Initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to design engineering to ensure manufacturability.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

This position may be filled at either a Principal or Sr. Principal level depending on overall qualifications & Years of Experience

• Principal MFG Engineer: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 Years with BS; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Years with PhD; 4 years additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree 

• Sr. Principal MFG Engineer: Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 8 Years with BS; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD; 4 years additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree 

Both levels require the following:

• Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in an aerospace or military aviation Manufacturing Engineering role or similar role.

• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools including CPLM, SAP, MES or other related applications.

• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• Active Top Secret Security Clearance

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in STEM or an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Aerospace. 

• Experience leading and Coordinating both NG & Supplier process improvement definition & execution.

• Experience developing & maintaining manufacturing work instructions.

• Possess and understanding of and experience in conducting MRA (Manufacturing Readiness Assessments) 

• Experience working with procurement and have an understanding of supply chain processes

• Experience working with 3D CAD software

• Experience working with a testing or lab environment

• Program access to the Sentinel Program (SAP)

Primary Level Salary Range: $86,600.00 - $130,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $107,800.00 - $161,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
