An opportunity to play your part – Centrica's Hive is seeking a passionate Software Engineer with proficiency in Golang to join our dynamic Platform Engineering Team. This role is at the heart of our Net Zero revolution, where you will be instrumental in crafting innovative IoT solutions that enable over 2 million customers to make eco-friendly choices. The day to day –

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, agile setting collaborating with a team of talented engineers and developers.
  • Spearhead the creation of cutting-edge platforms for seamless service and device integration.
  • Craft and refine integrations with third-party services, enhancing our system's connectivity and functionality.
  • Evaluate and improve existing system features to boost performance and user satisfaction.
  • Design and execute a comprehensive suite of automated tests to guarantee the reliability of our systems.
  • Manage projects to ensure timely completion, optimal performance, and issue-free releases.
  • robust, reliable, and scalable solutions that stand the test of time and use.
  • Engage with product teams and other stakeholders to resolve challenges and push the envelope on new features.
  • Work in tandem with business units to integrate APIs, ensuring a unified and efficient system.
  • Partner with the Service Management team to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues, delivering top-notch solutions.

About you –

  • Proficiency in Golang, with a proven track record of developing high-quality applications.
  • Skilled in version control with Git, showcasing collaborative and efficient code management.
  • Expertise in cloud computing, specifically in building serverless applications on AWS using Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
  • Deep understanding of DevOps methodologies, with hands-on experience in CI/CD pipeline construction and maintenance.
  • Competent in implementing test frameworks, ensuring thorough integration at various levels.
  • Agile adeptness, with a strong background in working within agile frameworks to deliver exceptional software solutions.
  • System design savvy, capable of architecting resilient and scalable systems that stand the test of time.
  • Architectural acumen in developing applications with microservice and event-driven architectures, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Mastery in API design, particularly RESTful APIs, with a focus on adherence to best practices for optimal integration and user experience.
  • Familiarity with OAuth and other authentication protocols, enhancing security and user trust.
  • Experience in JVM-based languages like Kotlin or Java, broadening the scope of service development.
  • Proficiency in API documentation, utilizing tools like Swagger/OpenAPI for clear and concise communication of API functionalities.
