Your Job:
The Patient Account Representative gives vital support to the providers of the Methodist Richardson Hospitalist group. Responsibilities include supporting revenue cycle functions, performing administrative duties, and assistance processing care-related documents. You will be part of a collaborative team working together to provide Methodist Richardson’s patients and their families’ exceptional care and support.
Your Job Requirements:
High school Diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor degree preferred
At least 1 year of experience (2 or more preferred), working in a medical office/clinic or other healthcare environment including:
Experience with medical billing & charges and insurance coverages
Administrative duties (e.g. reception, phones, scheduling meetings, etc.)
Familiarity with patient care-related documents (e.g. prescription requests, prior authorizations, home health orders, etc.)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Zoom required. Experience with Epic, healthcare billing software, insurance portals, and similar preferred
Experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Certified Nurse Assistant, etc. will also be considered
Excellent communication skills and customer service by phone, email, and in-person
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve effectively
Effective time management and flexibility to re-prioritize tasks when needed
A positive attitude and desire to make contributions as a team player in a highly collaborative work environment
Your Job Responsibilities:
Supports revenue cycle functions for the practice including:
Reviewing charges for errors and making needed changes prior to submission to payors
Verifying insurance eligibility and ensuring appropriate coverage is used for professional billing
Monitoring claim edit queue to review & correct errors after they have been submitted
Performing administrative duties including, but not limited to:
Answering incoming calls, taking messages, reviewing & responding to voicemails, etc. and redirecting callers to correct department/area/location when needed
Collecting, sorting, and distributing incoming & outgoing mail
Ordering & maintaining office supplies, equipment, and other items needed for department operations
Assisting with department meetings & activities including meeting reminders, taking attendance, and helping with technology setup when needed
Assists Patient Account Coordinator with processing patient care-related documentation:
Prescription requests and prior authorizations
Post-discharge care orders (Home Health, SNF, Rehab, etc.)
Communication with Care Management teams on unit to facilitate
Communicates clearly & respectfully with Hospitalist practice team (providers, operations staff, leadership) and other aligned departments
Other duties as assigned per changing business/operational needs
