About the Role

The Application Window is expected to close on 4/20/25. However, the job posting may be removed earlier if the position is filled or if a sufficient number of applications are received.

The User Experience Engineering (UXE) team is committed to improving the experience for the end user by creating a superb designer and engineer experience at ThousandEyes. We help product teams build the highest quality and accessible user experience possible based on proven industry standards with reusable components and design patterns.

Our mission is to evangelize standards, patterns, and best practices for UI design and development and data visualization at ThousandEyes. We own and maintain Iris, the Design System used by developers, designers, and product managers to maximize the ease, quality, consistency, and velocity of design and development across all of our products. We’re experts in frontend development, implementing pixel-perfect designs, and creating ideal developer and customer experiences.

Lately, we’ve worked on impactful projects such as:

  • Leading ThousandEyes’ Web Accessibility program with the goal of meeting WCAG guidelines within the design system and throughout the ThousandEyes application
  • Collaborating with teams to build two new data visualizations for widely-publicized new product offerings
  • Integrating with other frontend development teams across Cisco to evolve the ThousandEyes application’s design language, bringing consistency across products in the Cisco portfolio
  • Improving performance and developer experience by optimizing the build, packaging, and deployment of all core frontend JavaScript utilities used at ThousandEyes
  • Partnering with Design, Product Management, and customer-facing teams to update our branding and naming conventions across our application and documentation

What You’ll Do

  • Improving the core frontend technology that enables the ThousandEyes engineering organization to scale horizontally, primarily our design system, component library, and the developer tooling surrounding them
  • Developing the set of data visualizations used across our application to bring clarity to complex datasets
  • Working with other teams to improve frontend code quality, accessibility, usability, performance, and visual consistency across our product
  • Growing your knowledge of modern frontend development, while helping to set and communicate standards used across the company
  • Exploring new technologies that will benefit our workflow and contributing architectural/technical decisions
  • Collaborating closely with UX designers, using two-way feedback to take proposed design changes from ideas to beloved experiences

Qualifications

  • Experience with at least one modern frontend framework/library (e.g. Vue, React, Angular, etc)
  • Confidence with frontend languages and standard processes across TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Knowledge of modern software development lifecycle and agile practices, ability to collaborate with teammates at each stage
  • Comfort in fast-paced, dynamic environments and a willingness to challenge the status quo
  • A keen eye for detail and an understanding of how to build performant, testable, maintainable, and well-documented frontend code
  • Knowledge of standard web design principles, Web Accessibility best practices, and empathy for users
  • Proficient at collaborating and communicating across Product, Design, and Engineering
  • Passion for sharing your ideas, bringing others along, and caring for your teammates

Cisco values the perspectives and skills that emerge from employees with diverse backgrounds. That's why Cisco is expanding the boundaries of discovering top talent by not only focusing on candidates with educational degrees and experience but also placing more emphasis on unlocking potential. We believe that everyone has something to offer and that diverse teams are better equipped to solve problems, innovate, and create a positive impact.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification. Research shows that people from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy. We urge you not to prematurely exclude yourself and to apply if you're interested in this work.

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
