Introduction

You will join the Quality & Excellence and imaging optics mechatronics team within ASML’s manufacturing organization in Veldhoven.
This team supports engineers by improving how technical knowledge is discovered and reused.
During the Data Science | Computer Science internship: keyword extraction models, you will help transform large collections of written information into structured insights.
Your work will contribute to improve consistency, searchability, and decision‑making across teams.
This internship offers hands-on experience in applied data science within a high‑tech environment.

Your assignment

In this internship, you will design and validate a clear approach to identify meaningful keywords from text.


You will combine rule‑based techniques with lightweight machine‑learning methods to create a reusable approach that uses keywords to identify, classify, and link related documents, helping teams clearly understand how problems and solutions connect.


Within the Data Science | Computer Science internship: keyword extraction models, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Design a text preprocessing flow using standard, well-documented approaches.

  • Apply predefined keyword selection rules and evaluate their effectiveness.

  • Train and assess lightweight machine‑learning models for keyword relevance.

  • Create mappings between documents based on shared or related keywords.

  • Visualize relationships using clear graphs, clusters, or comparison matrices.

  • Structure extracted keywords so they can be reused across teams and systems.

  • Document your approach and present results to technical and non‑technical audiences.

This is a bachelor or master internship for minimum 3 months, minimum 3 days per week (1 days on‑site).
The start date of this internship is as of September 2026 and starting earlier is possible.
Throughout the internship, you will receive guidance from experienced colleagues and space to explore your ideas.

Your profile

To be suitable for the internship, you:

  • Are enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science or computer science.

  • Have basic experience with Python programming for data analysis or modeling.

  • Show interest in text analysis and Natural Language Processing concepts.

  • Work in a structured and analytical way when solving problems.

  • Communicate clearly and enjoy collaborating with people from different backgrounds.
