Job Description

  

Job Summary

Prepares and maintains accuracy of accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to procedural standards. Provides management with accurate information in the areas of cost, budgets, payroll, and forecasting in an efficient manner. At this level, tasks and assignments tend to be general but may involve complex and/or non-routine assignments and duties are performed under limited supervision. This role will play a key part in driving process improvements, leading special projects, and developing/maintaining documentation of accounting processes and procedures across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Proactively evaluates accounting processes and recommends process improvements to increase efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness while maintaining audit integrity.
  • Serve as a resource for process standardization and best practices across the team.
  • Lead root cause analysis for accounting issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Prepares schedules for corporate reporting.
  • Provides record of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions.
  • Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for managers.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state and local reports and tax returns.
  • Serves as back-up for other accounting duties.
  • Supports the preparation of year-end audit files and analysis.
  • Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines

Supervisory Responsibilities                                            

This job has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide technical leadership to lower level Accountants including carrying out lead responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations and laws and the organization’s policies and procedures.  This includes, but is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems. May lead project teams or serve as a project lead for cross-functional initiatives.

Education and/or Experience                                           

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:   

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:  

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:  Advanced Excel skills required; experience with ERP systems and reporting tools preferred.  

Other Essential Duties

  • Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen
  • Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…)

Other Qualifications

  • US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.
