As Director of Operational Compliance, you will be responsible for creating an operational framework and maintenance standard for First Line Controls and Monitoring consistent with the TransUnion 3 Lines of Defense Model.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years experience in a financial services industry, with hands on experience supporting and/or leading regulatory/compliance-related objectives.

  • Practical experience managing a compliance function or other risk management discipline inclusive of escalation of any issues arising from monitoring reporting.

  • Comprehensive regulatory examination and/or audit management experience.

  • Expert in consumer protection laws including UDAAP and FCRA.

  • Experience navigating a highly matrixed organization.

  • Experience interacting with federal regulators preferred.

  • Ability to influence cross-organizational stakeholders with desired outcomes

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills; is a problem solver and a solid decision maker

  • Consultative meeting facilitation skills; drives progress and ensures adequate recaps and status updates

  • People management skills, strong leadership, influencing, and relationship-building skills.

  • Excellent/strategic analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset.

Impact You'll Make:

  • Build and manage a team of compliance and audit professionals responsible for helping Business Units fulfill their operational compliance responsibilities while achieving their business goals. Ensure that this team provides timely, proactive advice, monitoring and independent oversight of TransUnion's compliance with many regulatory requirements. Together, with the team and supported Business Units, drive regulatory compliance adherence, reduce regulatory and operational compliance risk, protect TransUnion's reputation, and help TransUnion succeed in this highly complex compliance market. Reporting to a senior Operational Compliance leader, you will ensure that the team members you manage are advisors, problem solvers, communicators, and risk managers.

  • Design, deliver, document, and manage the ongoing maintenance of an effective first line control and monitoring function for TransUnion Business Units, and associated consent orders, that meet the expectations of US and International regulators

  • Engage with Business Unit leaders, executives, operational SME’s, and legal and compliance partners in establishing Business Unit-specific (and consent order) First Line Control and Monitoring programs

  • Provide guidance and recommendations to senior and executive leadership on compliance strategies and risk mitigation for first line controls and monitoring programs. 

  • Construct and perform complex first line/operational monitoring and issue escalation reviews and risk assessments.

  • Present recommendations and findings to senior leaders that may affect one or more Business Units such as audit, examination, quality control, quality assurance, training, credit risk, information security, data analysis, risk analysis, etc.

  • Audit Business Unit operational processes and procedures to determine compliance adherence and gap identification.  Pilot remediation efforts with Business Unit leaders and operational teams to correct and close compliance gaps.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
