About you and this role
Dow is seeking a Global Event Manager who will lead the development and activation of a comprehensive event strategy in collaboration with our commercial, business, or corporate partners, to achieve business objectives and goals. This position is located in Midland, MI.
In this role, you will deliver global impactful event experiences and thought leadership through various channels to include customers, strategic partners, and employees to drive relationship building, brand awareness and our reputation.
You will work on a variety of projects simultaneously and serves as the key focal point for not only the event strategy, but also the event operations and activation. You must have strong communication and leadership skills, the ability to work with global and diverse internal departments in a fast-paced environment, to successfully deliver on the event strategy.
Responsibilities
- Develop global event strategy: Lead the development of event strategies that align with corporate and commercial annual strategies.
- Lead strategy implementation: Drive the execution of these event strategies, setting clear milestones and annual goals to achieve our internal partner’s vision.
- Serve as a subject matter expert: Actively lead or participate in commercial, business, or corporate team planning meetings to provide event counsel, strategic direction, and solutions.
- Drive external and internal engagement: Analyze industry trends to optimize engagement across the commercial, business, and corporate organizations to develop, engage, and deliver a positive event experience to target audiences to achieve event and/or business objectives.
- Manage global budgets: Manage global program budgets, and resource management/billing, including leading supplier selection, work, and relationships.
- Minimize global risk: Manage internal strategic partnerships with ES&S, Risk Management, Legal, Occupational Health Services and Purchasing to deliver compliant and low risk events.
- Develop global event experiences: Develop, manage, and deliver global event experiences to engage target audiences. These events are highly visible throughout the organization, complex, and supports key business initiatives. This includes supplier selection, event communications, budget management, compliance - adhering to procedures and policies, and activation of the Dow brand throughout the event experience.
- Measure event outcomes: Analyze event results and convert data into meaningful insights to facilitate data-based decision making and defining future event strategies.
- Functional Knowledge: Serves as a resource to provide guidance to less experienced colleagues or third-party global event partner employees.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
- Background in hospitality.
- Proven track record in strategic event program management.
- Experience in supplier/account management.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse cultures, functions, and time zones and successfully operate in a matrixed organization with minimal supervision.
- Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
- Inquisitiveness coupled with the desire to continually improve event experience and engagement.
- Proficiency in managing event supplier partners.
