Responsibilities and Duties:

• Participate in technical discussions and shadow incident response/threat hunts/security validation/other projects.

• Develop and enhance SecOps automation including rapid incident response capabilities and SOC optimization.

• Creating technical documentation, reports, and dashboards.

• Support SOC with research and optimization; Create and tune detection logic; Log ingestion gap analysis.

• Assist in identifying and remediating vulnerabilities within Calix systems.

Qualifications:

• Student currently pursuing a degree in a technical field, preferably Information Security related, with at least two years completed.

• Demonstrate knowledge and application of modern information security principals.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Must be capable of assuming responsibility for assignments and time management.

• Able to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Linux sysadmin experience.

• Experience with automation scripting or SOAR platforms:

  • Python, Powershell

  • Experience collecting data with APIs, and creating automations, analytics, detections, and other output.

• Cloud DevOps experience:

  • Experience with Ansible or similar.

  • Exposure to code repositories and related tasks.

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code.
