BMI UK&I have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Product Manager - Flat Roofing Components to join our team. 


Role Summary
Working with the wider Marketing & Product Management team the role is responsible for developing and increasing the sale of flat roofing components & insulation as part of a system sell strategy. You will work in a local business environment, face-to-face with all stakeholders and will be an integral part of the marketing and product management team. You will be a seasoned product management professional and will enjoy using your technical, commercial, organisation and decision-making skills to drive product priorities to meet local business and BMI Group requirements for a defined set of products.

As the Product Manager - Flat Roofing Components, your key responsibilities will be: 

  • Manage the Flat Roofing Components & insulation portfolio of products to increase system ratio, maximising profitability and customer experience

  • Help drive the organisation to become a business focused on system, not product, selling

  • Be the ‘product owner’ for your portfolio, including the generation and maintenance of product information, specification, life-cycle management, service levels, pricing and value offer

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders

  •  Product expert for the defined product categories

  • Provide product related collateral, data and sales enablement support to internal and external stakeholders as required

  • Closely manage published product information content for your portfolio via a Product Information Management (PIM) system

  • Ensure all published product information is compliant with the Code for Construction Products Information (CCPI)

  • Drive product turnover and profitability by working with sales teams ensuring best practice is shared 

  • Ensuring all product activities have agreed commercial targets supported by agreed KPIs to track performance

  • Identify opportunities for new products and/or promotions. Quantify/justify the market potential for these and manage their subsequent development and introduction

  • Follow the defined procedures concerning product introductions, changes and deletions

  • Act as the liaison/co-ordination point between all parts of the business that have a potential impact on the profitability/performance of the identified products. A particular focus must be given to maintaining effective communications with other department functions

  • Generate product training/information to support the sales force as required

  • Working in conjunction with the marketing communications teams, propose, develop and implement sales enablement tools, customer initiatives and compliance in support of the budget and other company / marketing objectives 

  • Monitor changes and trends within both the macro and micro-environment to take advantage of opportunities and plan around threats. Particular attention must be given to changes in building legislation, standards and market trends.

  • Remain flexible with regard to support for the wider product range. Changes in priority within the entire BMI business as a whole, may/will require ownership of projects outside of the identified (“owned”) products.

Your key skills and experience will include: 

  • Educated to a degree level

  • Experience within a Product Management role

  • Previous experience in developing product strategies and in creating product roadmaps

  • Capability to manage the creation of technical collateral e.g. technical data sheets, Declarations of Performance, brochures

  • Competency in using spreadsheets and in analysing data 

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience of stakeholder management including with external suppliers

  • High levels of commercial acumen and market understanding

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritising where applicable

  • Experience with SAP and Product Information Management (PIM) systems at a SKU lifecycle level and for commercial analysis

  • A good understanding of roofing applications and associated products (desirable)

  • Qualifications in product management related fields (desirable)
