Mistplay is  hiring a Senior Counsel to support Mistplay’s global commercial and product teams as well as our APAC business headquartered in South Korea.  Reporting to the Director and Assistant General Counsel, Legal & Regulatory Affairs who is based in North America, you will play a crucial role in supporting our APAC team as they seek to further grow Mistplay’s existing business in South Korea, China, and Japan and expand to new countries in the region.  You will also serve as global commercial and product counsel, supporting team members in North America, the EU and APAC.

  

The ideal candidate has demonstrated ad-tech and/or mobile gaming industry experience, experience leading regional legal operations, and has both law-firm and in-house experience.  As a business and legal leader, you bring a “can-do” or “I will figure it out” attitude to your work. What You'll Do at Mistplay:

• Act as lead counsel for Mistplay’s APAC operations headquartered in South Korea, advising on employment, corporate, product, privacy, commercial, marketing, and regulatory matters. 

• Support global operations, developing scalable contract review and negotiation standards, training legal and business team colleagues, advising on product and marketing initiatives, and other cross-functional projects.

• Maintain subject matter expertise in the areas most relevant to our products and business, including, but not limited to, APAC corporate, advertising, consumer protection, gaming, privacy and data protection, and online safety laws.  

• Support special projects and key initiatives to further develop and mature the legal team’s capabilities and impact, including, for example, strategic M&A, expansion into new global markets, new product launches and other key business objectives.

• Deliver clear, practical legal advice in a fast-moving environment.

• Effectively manage outside counsel and associated budgets.
  
  

What You'll Bring to Mistplay:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), or equivalent degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.  Preference for candidates that have practiced law in multiple jurisdictions as the role requires a global mindset.

• Minimum of 6+ years of legal experience, including both law firm and in-house experience advising clients in the adtech industry.  Strong preference for publisher side, rewarded advertising, and/or mobile gaming experience.   

• Fluency or professional working proficiency in English and Korean (written and spoken). Japanese language skills are a plus.

• Ability to translate complex global regulatory and legal requirements into practical, plain language, risk-based advice for the business.

• A “can do” or “I will figure it out” approach to your work and the legal research, writing and communication skills that this requires.

• Ability to work effectively with colleagues across departments and time zones.

• Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10% of the time) as needed.
