Perseus is organized into two primary groups to support its acquisition mandate – Zodiac and Andromeda. We are seeking an extraordinary person to lead a key pillar of the Business Development function for the Zodiac Group with a focus on identifying opportunities with large corporations and business Intermediaries.
The Role
The Director of Corporate Development will be responsible for originating and nurturing long-term relationships with two key segments: (i) large corporate entities that own discreet software businesses and (ii) business intermediaries (i.e., brokers, advisors) that represent software companies. The role will report directly to the VP of Corporate Development.
The role will initially be supported by one additional person to support in research and contacting prospects. The role’s success will be defined by making and maintaining connections, and engaging in meaningful dialogue with representatives of large Corporations and business intermediaries which will ultimately lead to an acquisition of their business.
This is a hand on role with a long term orientation. The introduction, maintaining relationships, and ultimately being considered for an acquisition by Constellation may take years. Continuous value-add in conversations and interactions is what allows successful acquisitions to come to fruition.
Outcomes:
Establish 220 new relationships with qualified acquisition prospects in the first 12 months. Effectively qualify opportunities for the corporate development team at the top end of the funnel, including upcoming calls and NDAs. Provide ongoing coaching and performance management with ultimate responsibility for hiring and termination of at least one supporting team member.
Relevant Experience & Competencies:
10 years of senior Account management experience
Passion for initiating and cultivating new relationships.
Demonstrated interest in developing a long-term pipeline of meaningful relationships with prospects throughout a career.
Intellectual curiosity coupled with an investor/entrepreneurial mindset
Expertise with Salesforce.com, Sales Loft
Extraordinary work ethic, proactive with a sense of urgency.
Preference for a business undergrad and/or graduate degree.
