As a Data Strategy and Enablement Senior Manager, you are accountable for leading teams focused on strengthening business capabilities by leveraging data and analytics. In collaboration with partners in American Funds Service Company, Retirement Plan Services, Shared Services and Analytical Teams, you will lead the development of a data strategy enabling strategic business outcomes and manage an execution roadmap that makes data and insights actionable, accessible, and trustworthy. You’ll play a key role in championing data management practices, and drive adoption rates while delivering on best-in-class data capabilities. This is a role that combines analytical leadership, organizational ability, technical strength, customer focus and business understanding.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Data Strategy & Product Management
Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with business outcomes called out in our long-term strategy and near-term business plans.
Collaborate with senior leadership to identify opportunities for client experience improvements and data-driven innovation.
Lead a team responsive for development and maintenance of strategic data products and services.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to define product requirements and prioritize feature development.
Oversee data product lifecycle from ideation to launch and ongoing maintenance and enhancements.
Data Governance
Establish team and core operations focused on a holistic strategy covering Data Governance, Education & Awareness, Risk Management & Audits, Data Quality Management & Data Privacy.
Collaborate with Enterprise Data Governance teams to develop and roll out comprehensive data governance frameworks, that include policies, procedures, and standards that guide how data is managed, secured, and utilized across groups globally.
Oversee efforts to identify, categorize, and document data assets within the organization aiding goals to better understand data lineage and elevating trust in data informing strategic decision making.
Implement data quality initiatives and establish data stewardship programs, educate leaders on the responsibilities for data owners and stewards.
People Leadership
Set and articulate expectations around leadership behavior for the team; model behavior that exemplifies Capital Group principles and values.
Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to Data Strategy, Governance & Product Management Teams.

You provide thought leadership in discussions with business and technology leaders to shape the vision for data driven solutions enabling core business operations and processes.
You have a deep understanding of the lifecycle and development of data products (acquisition, prep, hypotheses and modelling, evaluation, deployment, operations, and optimization).
You have a proven track record of success in leadership level roles within complex and highly matrixed organizations.
You can fill in gaps across roles and functions as needed, performing as an adaptive problem solver.
You have 15 years of insights experience with at least 5 years of that experience including leadership of a data and analytics team.
You ideally have experience in the Asset Management Industry
You have a demonstrated ability to influence at the C-suite level.
You have experience developing and managing knowledge systems.
You have expert-level communication skills, including written and verbal.
You have experience managing a budget and external consultants and vendors.
Southern California Base Salary Range: $193,464-$328,889
San Antonio Base Salary Range: $174,229-$296,189
Indianapolis Base Salary Range: $177,287-$301,388
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
