Job Description:

Internship – Digital Chemistry (m/f)

To support our Technology Department in the Advanced Materials division, we are looking for an intern in digital chemistry. The position is a 6-month internship, and it is based in our Advanced Materials Innovation Center in Basel (Switzerland). The objective of this internship is to assist the data driven research initiatives within the R&D Department of Huntsman Advanced Materials. The intern will work under the guidance of a multidisciplinary team and will contribute to concrete projects by cleaning and analyzing experimental data, creating data processing pipelines and finally participating in the development of chemistry ML models.

Your main accountabilities as Digital chemistry Intern will be:

• Compile and analyze experimental data from archived projects to be utilized in data science initiatives using our electronic laboratory notebook and other databases.
• Participate in the development of novel cheminformatics representation and featurization methods (algorithms) specific to polymers.
• Participate in the development of Machine Learning models for prediction of material properties.
• Document data processing scripts and workflows
• Assist in the automation of manual processes for dashboards.

Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree or enrolled in a Master Program in material science, chemistry, chemical engineering, computer science or equivalent.
• Tech savvy, programming skills (Python preferred) with a good knowledge of data analytics.
• Knowledge in Chemistry/ Material Science (ideally polymers) is a plus.
• Knowledge in the areas of Chemoinformatics & Machine Learning is a plus.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Passion to learn and a collaborative mindset
• Fluent in English
