As a Certified Respiratory Therapist, you will work alongside our team of world-class caregivers to deliver a safe and comfortable experience during a patient's stay. You will provide assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

Your primary duties will include:
• Planning, establishing, and evaluating patients for the correct type of treatment and care based on their diagnosis.
• Monitoring and putting in place patient care plans with advanced monitoring techniques.
• Evaluating respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.

The ideal future caregiver is someone who:
• Has a minimum of three years expereince in critical care.
• Has (or can obtain) an Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board licensure, Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
• Has strong critical thinking skills and can work under minimum supervision.
• Can demonstrate decisive judgement in stressful situations.
• Shows strong communication skills.
• Shows empathy and compassion in a patient-centered environment.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Directs respiratory staff for delivery of care. Implements and monitors patient care plan.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Performs advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
  • Educates the patient and family about the illness and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.
  • At sites where applicable, the employee will perform blood gas puncture and analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program preferred.

Certifications:

  • Must have successfully passed the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) CRT exam and possess an active Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) license in the State of Ohio or must possess a current graduate limited permit to practice Respiratory Care (RCLP-L2) in the State of Ohio.
  • Must maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) credential through the American Heart Association.
  • A Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential is preferred.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • None required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.
  • May require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
