The Data Analyst Intern is responsible for developing and designing data and analytics projects for Watkins Wellness business functions. This position will create comprehensive reporting and analysis of data, including the mining and analyzing of financial and operational data, designing, and developing data systems and collaborating with internal partners to reveal insights that lead to improved decisions. This team member will use data analysis and data visualization techniques capitalizing on relevant tools (e.g., Power BI) to develop solutions that enable business insights and actionability while ensuring company information is stored effectively and securely. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.)

Data Analysis/Visualization/Dashboard Development

  • Apply expertise in data analysis and visualization. See beyond the numbers and understand how the users interact with the data at all levels of skill and expertise and how to best leverage visualization tools to analyze data.
  • Work with data engineers to mine data from a range of sources.
  • Understanding of data security to assure the right data is seen and used by the right people.
  • Gather requirements to facilitate all aspects of development turning user requirements into technical specifications.
  • Promote the mindset within the organization of driving decisions and business value through effective data mining and visualizations.
  • Drive a master data management mentality where the cost of data ownership is driven down through data grooming and democratization of data across multiple business functions.
  • Build, test, and gain end user signoff on work performed.

Internal Customer Support

  • Be an internal representative and advocate for Business Intelligence at Watkins Wellness.
  • Create and maintain user-facing documentation and training for BI systems.

General

  • Build strong collaborative relationships with internal and external customers and team members.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and end-to-end quantitative thinking
  • Outstanding communications skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Course work with a focus in computer science, Math, Statistics, or other quantitative fields
  • Experience with a data visualization (any tool)
  • Previous experience in the Microsoft data warehouse and ETL  tools (Data Factory, Synapse) is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, fast problem solving, lean and innovative mindset
  • Experience with SQL server Management Studio and/or relational databases
