Role Mandate:

You will have skills in building and maintaining a cohesive, successful sales team as well as motivating team members to meet and exceed sales volume targets.

The Director of Business Development is responsible for the overall coordination, the functional management and leadership of all of the sales activities of the business.

Accountabilities:

  • Mentor and develop a team of Business Development Represents that span across Western Canada
  • Identify objectives and strategies to expand market share and customer base
  • Establish performance goals for all sales reps, and monitor performance of a continual basis
  • Ensure compliance with corporate business objectives, policies, procedures and practices
  • Staying up to date with the best sales tools and practices that will help to enhance Wholesale Club’s position within the market

Responsibilities:

  • Establishment of both annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with the Company's business plan
  • Frequent participation in field visits along with Business Development Representatives, assessing prime development opportunities to drive incremental business. This role will require approximately 60% of the time spent in the field  
  • Presenting and coordinating sales objectives and plans with various stakeholders within the business
  • Establishing market and target customer strategies with the ultimate goal of acquiring incremental high value customers

Role Requirements:

  • Business Degree or diploma
  • Proven experience meeting aggressive sales targets
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of sales management
  • Food Service Sales Management Experience / and or Wholesale Management experience is desirable
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Must have a good understanding of mass markets to drive a growing business
  • Proven leadership ability to influence, develop, and empower colleagues to achieve objectives with a team approach
  • Strong computer knowledge of data base and spreadsheet programs.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • A genuine passion for building “sales”
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task
  • Travel to meet customers and the sales team
  • A “can - do” attitude
  • Is a demonstrated leader
  • Equally strong listening skills

Key Measures (Performance indicators):

  • Achieve sales and other financial targets as determined by the financial plans
  • Develop and implement value added business to business programs to complement business strategy
  • Grow and expand current business relationships to help sustain the growth of the division
  • Meet with key customers
  • Bilingual considered as an asset

The Director of Business Development defines and manages the monthly and annual sales objectives.

The successful candidate is expected to be knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies.
