Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking engineers to fill the role of Production Asset Engineer to support equipment at our Portland location. As an Equipment Engineer you will be responsible for production equipment throughout its life cycle. This includes leading projects, analyzing technical data, and making technical recommendations for new equipment purchases, existing equipment modification, and problem-solving faults on existing equipment. Engineers are expected to work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to provide equipment solutions that align with requirements related to safety, reliability, regulatory requirements, and performance. 

 

A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and a desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have strong interpersonal skills needed for interacting with mechanics, safety personal, equipment services, and equipment vendors. Our Teams are currently hiring for a range of experience levels including Associate, Mid-Level, or Senior Production Asset Engineers.  

 

Primary Responsibilities:  

This is an equipment and tooling development, implementation, and improvement role. Your duties will include (but are not limited to): 

  • Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment concepts and designs solutions for the Production System. Examples of equipment type: CNC Mills, Lathes, Furnaces, Sand Blast Machines, Plating and Processing systems.  

  • Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design, usability, and rate estimates. 

  • Investigates and develops basic to moderately complex equipment concepts and specifications to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements.  

  • Creates specifications, purchase requests and usage instructions for equipment.  

  • Create and revise engineering models and drawings (CATIA) and documentation for new and existing equipment. 

  • Assist maintenance mechanics in trouble-shooting and repair of equipment. 

  • Collaborate with production to design and implement engineering equipment solutions to production issues ensuring compliance involving safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements. 

  • Project management: Oversee budget and schedule to deliver equipment solutions on time and on budget. 

  • Assist with development of preventative maintenance and spares plans, production readiness planning, and training of Production and Maintenance personnel. 

 

Work Authorization Statement:  

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.  

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience): 

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (ABET is a preferred, although not required, accreditation standard) 

  • 2 or more years related engineering work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience 

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

  • 3 or more years of experience working in a production environment 

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • 2 or more years of engineering experience working with CNC Mills, Lathes, Furnaces, shot peen, or processing equipment  

  • 3 or more years of experience working to industry standards including compliance with equipment configuration and safety codes 

  • 2 or more years managing engineering projects, tracking delivery milestones, and reporting progress. 

  • Knowledge of fabrication machine design  

 

Typical Education/Experience:  

  • Associate Level: Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years related engineering work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master's degree) 

  • Mid-Level: Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years related engineering work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master's degree + 3 years work experience) 

  • Senior Level: Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years related engineering work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD + 4 years work experience, Master's degree + 7 years work experience)

Pay Range Summary:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.   

Associate Level: $81,600- $106,000 

Mid-Level: $96,050- $124,000 

Senior Level: $118,000- $153,000
