Job Description

About the Role

  • In this role, you will contribute to major projects by developing and maintaining Python-based solutions for credit risk modeling. You’ll support the migration of a production engine from SAS to Python, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the process.
  • The ideal candidate has strong programming skills, enjoys solving technical challenges, and thrives in a collaborative environment where technology and risk management intersect.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Python-based components for the credit risk model lifecycle.
  • Re-engineering a model production engine from SAS to Python, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Key areas of impact will include model implementation, production and monitoring as well as dashboards and reporting.
  • Collaborate with quantitative model developers to implement model logic and integrate it into production systems.
  • Optimize code for efficiency, scalability, and compliance with internal standards.
  • Design and implement automated workflows for data processing, testing, and deployment.
  • Ensure robust version control, documentation, and adherence to software development best practices.
  • Work closely with infrastructure and risk teams to support smooth implementation and delivery.

Our requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in software development, data analytics, or related roles, preferably in financial services, banking, and/or credit risk.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a quantitative/technical field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, data science, or engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience building production-grade applications.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Optional

  • Experience with SAS.
  • Experience with quantitative model development and/or validation.
  • Familiarity with software engineering principles, including design patterns, testing, CI/CD, and version control (Git).
  • Experience with cloud-based tools and infrastructure (Azure or AWS).
  • Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools (Airflow, Bash scripting).
  • Understanding performance optimization for large-scale data processing.

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
