Job Summary:

Red Hat APAC is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist who will be based in our Tokyo office.  This is a multi-disciplined role that covers public relations, analyst relations and internal communications programs for Red Hat Japan. As the country communications lead you will work closely with the Japan sales and Japan marketing team, APAC communications team, and our global communication team. 

In this role, you will act as the Communications lead for the country and will help drive thought leadership and influence internal and external stakeholder perceptions. You will also be responsible for creating awareness of Red Hat’s company, product and solution offerings, and building creative storytelling ideas. We are seeking a self-driven communications professional who is able to adapt to a fast-paced working environment.

Responsibilities:

PR/Media Relations: (65%)

  • Responsible for developing and executing a sustainable Japan PR/media strategy aligned to country business, and marketing goals.

  • Work closely with the local PR agency, Japan Marketing Director and APAC Comms team to support in-country PR activities. 

  • Manage the local PR agency and drive day-to-day PR activities, measuring results against goals for all campaigns and programs. 

  • Work with PR agency to develop messaging for showcasing thought leadership opportunities such as - press releases, bylines, interviews and local announcements. 

  • Manage communications updates and postings for high-profile corporate events like Red Hat Summit, Red Hat Summit Connect, and any C-Level events.

  • Work with Japan marketing team, Japan leadership team, cross-functional country teams and customers / partners to explore thought leadership positioning opportunities for Red Hat Japan.

  • The ideal candidate will build and maintain relationships with Japanese media. They will serve as a trusted advisor on PR strategy to internal stakeholders

Internal Communications: (25%)

  • Oversee all internal communications activities in Japan and support the Japan General Manager for any employee related communications. 

  • Responsible for developing high-level internal communications material, including company announcements, newsletters, and notifications.

  • Organize All Hands Meeting by working with Japan General Manager

  • Bring in excellent interpersonal skills to work with team members across several departments to ensure an efficient information flow.

Analyst Relations: (10%) 

  • Work with the APAC Analyst Relations team to support the local analyst relations program. 

  • Be a trusted partner internally with the ability to staff analyst meetings, provide first level feedback to spokespeople, own follow-up, suggest next steps, and contribute to strategy.

  • Nurture and expand the relationships between key industry analysts and company's local leadership.

  • Manage the creation of briefing decks and other materials for analyst engagements and provide regular reporting on all Analyst engagements to the APAC AR team.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • 8-10 years of public relations/communications experience, ideally in a multinational, technology company or supported regional technology accounts at a PR agency.

  • Strong understanding of B2B and relevant industry topics (cloud computing, AI, automation, FSI etc.).

  • Experience managing a PR agency team or worked at a PR agency preferred.

  • Self-driven strategic thinker capable of collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders in Japan, Asia-Pacific and globally. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior executives and multiple stakeholders across a highly matrixed, global organization.

  • A self motivated, problem solver who has the ability to independently manage projects.

  • Internal communications or executive communications experience is a plus

  • Excellent communication skills in Japanese (written & verbal) AND business-level English.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in public relations, journalism, communications or similar field preferred.
