Job Description Summary

               

The Manager Food Safety Compliance provides leadership and technical expertise for Food Safety, FSMA, Food Defense, HACCP and Food Safety Training techniques. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of Food Safety principles, methods and technology. This position requires effective communication skills to work with and train a variety of cross-functional customers (FSQ, Operations/Supply Chain, Maintenance, Engineering, Sanitation staff, and Regulators). The individual will be required to work closely with Supply Chain and FSQ Operations and actively participate in training and continuous improvement projects.

Job Description

  • Creation and implementation of Lamb Weston programs and training that ensure support and compliance with FSMA, FDA, State and Local regulations, BRC and HACCP.
  • Champions the Food Safety Culture Initiatives.
  • Leads and directs the FSU training program and other training needs as identified.
  • Collaborates with FSQ COE to develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures related to FSMA, BRC, HACCP, and Food Safety. This includes microbiology, toxicology, supplier compliance, internal auditing and other Food Safety programs.
  • Development, training and verification of the completion of Food Safety, HACCP and Food Defense plans. Collaborates with FSQ Operations in the implementation of these plans.
  • Collaborates with Corporate Engineering to develop, implement and maintain programs and policies that meet Federal regulations, customer, and GFSI requirements.
  • Collaborates with Corporate Security on Food Defense programs and training.
  • Coordinates training and development of employees in the areas of Food Safety (FSMA, GMP’s, Allergens, Microbiology, Sanitary Design, BRC, Food Safety Auditing etc.)
  • Manages the collection and presentation of key performance indicators, metrics, FSQ data management, policies and procedure Food Safety Manual and other food safety compliance programs.
  • Seeks methods and technology to continuously improve training programs and delivery
  • Self-motivated and works successfully with cross-functional departments within and outside the organization and builds effective relationships.
  • Leads by example and demonstrates corporate and plant values. Maintains team’s adherence to employee handbook, GMPs and other company policies and procedures.
  • Seeks and provides resources for team and provides necessary training that will assist the team in reaching its goals.
  • Collaborates with Director of Food Safety and Compliance on special projects as needed

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)

  • B.S. in Microbiology, Food Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive food safety and food processing experience required; at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment under FDA and/or HACCP food safety programs preferred.

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent and proficient grasp of FSMA, HACCP, BRC and Food Defense
  • Must be able to work independently and have strong demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and self-initiative skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills a must
  • Computer Skills: MS Office – Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Proficient command of English - must be an effective communicator (oral and written) with training, facilitation and project management skills. Must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Physical Environment/Demands:

  • Some travel may be required 10-20% of time
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
  • Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $98,770.00 - $148,160.00
