Job Title: Network Engineer (Audit & Compliance)

Reports to: Head ICT Infrastructure

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer with a primary focus on network audits and compliance. This role involves conducting comprehensive network audits, ensuring governance and security standards are maintained, and supporting operational network activities. The position is audit-driven (70%), with hands-on network operations responsibilities (30%). The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining network integrity, mitigating risks, and ensuring audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit & Compliance (70%):

  • Conduct regular and ad-hoc network audits across switches, routers, firewalls, access points, and other network devices.

  • Risk Assessment: Identifying vulnerabilities in network hardware, software, and configurations.

  • Compliance Verification: Ensuring adherence to security policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Security Control Review: Testing firewalls, access controls, and intrusion detection systems.

  • Perform User Access Reviews (UAR) to identify dormant, unauthorized, or non-compliant accounts.

  • Validate network configurations and ensure compliance with security hardening standards.

  • Prepare detailed audit documentation and reports for internal and external reviews.

  • Collaborate with IT Security, Operations, and management to implement corrective actions based on audit findings.

  • Maintain network governance frameworks, SOPs, and compliance checklists in accordance with standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, and ITIL.

  • Track audit findings and follow through to ensure timely resolution of non-compliance issues.
     

Network Operations (30%):

  • Support day-to-day network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance management for LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN infrastructure.

  • Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) failover testing and network resilience planning.

  • Apply configuration changes and updates while ensuring alignment with audit and compliance requirements.

  • Assist with capacity management and performance optimization of network infrastructure.
     

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in network engineering with significant exposure to audits and compliance activities.

  • Hands-on experience with network devices including Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.

  • Strong knowledge of network protocols: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLAN, and VPN.

  • Experience in conducting network audits, compliance checks, and documentation.

  • Professional certifications such as CCNA, CISA, CompTIA Network+, ITIL Foundation are highly desirable.
