Datadog’s Applied AI group is building the next generation of AI models that power proactive alerting, anomaly detection, text analysis, and event correlation across our platform. Our teams work with some of the world’s richest observability and telemetry datasets, developing detection and grouping models that help thousands of customers troubleshoot, automate, and optimize their cloud systems in real time.

As an Engineering Manager I in Applied AI, you will lead a team of talented scientists and ML engineers focused on developing and improving detection, grouping, and text intelligence models. You will guide technical execution, support team growth, and collaborate across engineering, product, and research to deliver impactful AI-powered features. This is a hands-on management role contributing directly to Datadog’s AI-driven future.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and develop a team focused on detection, anomaly detection, NER, PII, log clustering, and event grouping models
• Contribute to the technical direction of Applied AI initiatives in partnership with senior engineers and Product
• Support career growth for engineers through coaching, feedback, and fostering a culture of inclusion and psychological safety
• Work closely with product managers and partner teams to deliver projects from research to production at Datadog scale
• Drive day-to-day execution and promote high standards for operational excellence, system reliability, and technical quality
• Participate in hiring and help shape the future team as the organization grows
• Encourage best practices in machine learning, AI engineering, and operational rigor
• Contribute to cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing across the broader AI organization
  
  

Who You Are

• A technical leader with experience in AI, machine learning, or data science
• Proven experience building and shipping ML- or AI-powered products
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers; ready to grow into broader leadership responsibilities
• Strong technical expertise in one or more areas: deep learning, anomaly detection, time series modeling, NLP for semi-structured data
• Comfortable working with Product to break down ambiguous problems and plan high-quality deliverables
• A people-focused manager able to develop and support strong engineering talent
• BS/MS/PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
