PRN Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient

Cleveland Clinic’s inpatient pharmacy areas support distributive and clinical pharmacy services provided by staff pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists and pharmacy technicians, supporting 60 nursing units, 80 operating rooms, 4 PACUs (Post Anesthesia Care Unit), and 10 cath labs, accounting for over 1,440 inpatient beds. As a PRN Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in moving medications throughout the facility to enhance patient care. You will join a team that empowers every caregiver to make valuable contributions to patient-focused care, teaching, and research activities. This team embraces a positive attitude and respects and supports one another to provide the best care possible. 
 

A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 6:30AM – 10:30PM.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the Registered Pharmacist.  

  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems.  

  • Fill medications carts daily.  

  • Prepare orders and maintain inventory for the pharmacy department.  

  • Repackage bulk medications.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • A high school diploma or GED.  

  • Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. You must be eligible for registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and register within 6 months of hire.  


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program.  

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). CPhT through the PTCB is required within 18 months of hire.  

  • Six months of hospital experience.
