While interviews aren't ongoing, we're excited to connect with talented individuals who share our commitment to Blue State's mission.

What to know

In this role, you’ll make meaningful contributions to a team of communicators developing impactful strategies for a client base that spans leading nonprofits, advocacy organizations, campaigns, and brands. You’ll translate their mission and objectives into innovative approaches and narratives that reach new audiences and give a platform to their issues. You’ll be a close partner to key clients, and help Blue State deliver the best possible outcome.

The ideal candidate is an inquisitive writer, thinker, and avid consumer of news, culture, and digital trends who can help develop and execute engaging strategies across social, owned and earned media.

The company

Blue State is a purpose-driven agency. We partner with leading causes, brands, and campaigns and create real change. From Google and UNICEF to Amnesty International and Oxfam, we transform how brands and causes raise money, influence policy, build platforms, and grow communities of supporters. Led by the most creative and analytical minds from the political, nonprofit, and brand worlds, Blue State is an independent agency and has 150+ employees in the US and London.

A day in the life

  • Help clients think strategically about their communications, and craft innovative earned and social media plans that meet the moment.
  • Develop press relationships for media opportunities and oversee/create earned media assets including press releases, collateral, events, and other supporting materials.
  • Contribute to the execution of cross-disciplinary, integrated campaigns that leverage public affairs, media and digital tactics to reach key audiences and achieve client goals.
  • Write and edit persuasive external and internal documents such as press releases, op-eds, presentations, fact sheets, talking points, social media language, pitch notes and ideas memos.
  • Advise and stay up-to-date on social media strategies and best practices in social media marketing, including growth recommendations, influencer trends, and content recommendations, across platforms including LinkedIn, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), X, Bluesky, and others.
  • Help create compelling content about Blue State’s mission, culture, clients, work, and more.
  • Attend client meetings and engage in discussions regarding strategies, recommendations, and deliverables (meetings are primarily remote with occasional in-person events).
  • Coordinate communication with clients and assist on creation and distribution of meeting agendas and notes.
  • Ensure delivery of client deliverables according to project timelines, and pivot work as necessary based on timeline adjustments and new client needs.
