As such, we’re looking for a talented Staff Software Engineer to join our growing crew and lead the development of a cutting-edge self-service portal that allows our employees to deploy and manage firewalls across our networks.

The Role

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will take the lead in architecting and building a secure, scalable internal web application from the ground up. This portal will enable our IT and network security teams to deploy and manage firewalls autonomously, streamlining operations and improving our overall network security posture.

In partnership with multifunctional stakeholders, you may expect to:

  • Architect, design, and develop a self-service portal for internal firewall deployment and management.

  • Lead the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment.

  • Collaborate closely with network engineers and IT security teams to ensure the portal meets all technical and security requirements.

  • Implement best practices for web development, including responsive design, security, and user experience.

  • Integrate the portal with existing network infrastructure and firewall APIs.

  • Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible to automate firewall deployment processes.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers on the team. - Continuously monitor and improve the portal’s performance, scalability, and security.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Demonstrable success in reliable, scalable and resilient software engineering, with a focus on web development.

  • Proficiency in frontend technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React.js or Vue.js.

  • Strong backend development experience with languages like Python (Django, Flask), JavaScript (Node.js), or Java (Spring Boot).

  • Experience with database management using SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis).

  • Knowledge of network security concepts and firewall configuration.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git.

  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure) and microservices architecture.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead and mentor a team.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with firewall APIs from vendors like Cisco or Palo Alto Networks.

  • Previous experience building internal tools or self-service portals in a large enterprise environment.

  • Certification in network security or cloud architecture.
