ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description:

The Sr Associate User Experience Design position offers a unique opportunity to join a fun, innovative engineering team within the AI & Data Science (AI&D) organization. You’ll work on next-generation capabilities and services in Applied AI & Automation using innovative COTS products, open-source software, frameworks, tools, and cloud computing services. The role also emphasizes demonstrating these capabilities to support critical business operations and initiatives, in ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across Amgen’s Applied AI & Automation Footprint.

The Sr Associate User Experience Design role is responsible for leading design discussions with product managers and business leads. This role involves collaborating with developers to create optimal designs that provide the best user experience while maintaining simplicity and elegance in design. The ideal candidate has strong design mindset with ability to program components, features, and feature sets, with excellent communication skills, and a good understanding of Agile methodologies.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Participate in design discussions with product managers and business leads in defining user requirements and design goals.
• Collaborate with developers to create and implement design solutions that ensure optimal user experience.
• Create annotated prototypes or wireframes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate the behavior of a software application.
• Utilize Figma and Lucid for creating wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs.
• Maintain a user-centered design approach and ensure all designs are simple, elegant, and intuitive.
• Communicate design ideas and prototypes clearly to stakeholders and team members.
• Stay updated with the latest design trends and techniques to ensure the best user experience.
• Deliver to required timelines and write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the selected technology for the project.
• Use JIRA for tracking design tasks and managing workflows.
• Adapt to a fast-paced environment and learn new tools and methods quickly.
• Effective prototype/product demonstrations for internal and external collaborators.

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

[GCF Level 4A]

• Any degree and 5 to 9 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills:

• User experience as a priority with a simple but elegant design approach
• Proficient in using standard design & wireframing tools (Figma, Adobe CC), hand drawing, whiteboarding, and visual communication, time-based and interactive prototyping tools (Figma Prototyping, Miro).
• Experienced in developing custom frontend web applications and web Components. Proficiency in React framework, HTML5, and CSS. Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with SAFe Agile working
• Business Analyst mindset
• Passionate about learning new technologies, new methods, and new skills. Have a good understanding of Agile teams, practices, and principles.
