WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

As a TEAM we regularly interact with product and Finance and Technology partners globally. It is our responsibility to partner with program, product and engineering peers to ensure we are aligning appropriate technology outcomes with prioritized initiatives.

You will regularly engage with the engineers on our collaborative, diverse DevOps squads to plan and deliver outcomes where financial service, security, reliability and performance globally at scale are expected. Your ability to context switch between career development conversations with your team and helping deliver working software when necessary is important.

Along the way, you will also collaborate with other organizational leaders globally to ensure technical outcomes are achieved, TEAM health is high, and that we are building trust and diversity in our Nike Global Technology Organization.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager who values a healthy TEAM culture and diversity! You should be interested in helping establish strategic direction for the next generation of financial integration technology while working to elevate engineering practices and team capability. This role will also help improve the technical aptitude of the team through pairing, code reviews, innovation time, and design discussions.

The candidate needs to have experience and an understanding of contemporary development, testing, delivery, and observability techniques and tools in a DevOps environment.  A learning mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication are essential.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • 4+ years’ Management or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years’ Node.js / JavaScript programming experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in building RESTful micro-services using Java or Node.js
  • Demonstrated experience delivering microservice architecture at scale
  • Deep understanding and practical application of modern build, continuous integration, and testing strategies
  • AWS Environment experience: Lambdas, EC2, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, S3, CLI
  • Tool familiarity: Jenkins, GitHub, IntelliJ, WebStorm, Jest, Jira
  • Deep understanding and practical application of modern build, continuous integration, and testing strategies
  • Strong Agile practice experience with Scrum and DevOps

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

Your primary role on the team will be to help multiple squads navigate technical design and implementation strategies. You will innovate, deliver high quality code, share best practices and make critical technical design choices. You will help coach the team to innovate, design, build, test, deploy and maintain sustainable technology. This is a hands-on role, writing code, doing peer reviews, and sharing other DevOps responsibilities, and understanding is essential.
