About the team and the role:
eBay is seeking a dedicated Accessibility Product Manager (Subject Matter Expert). The candidate will primarily serve as the A11y SME reviewing, consulting and providing guidance to product teams and support multiple aspects of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) compliance and ensure our platforms meet regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accessibility guidelines such as WCAG and EN 301 549, familiarity with assistive technology, excellent communication skills, and experience collaborating with diverse teams across an organization. You will play a key role in reporting on accessibility metrics, and supporting both product and non-product teams to ensure a more accessible eBay! The candidate will join our small Core Accessibility Team and help guide our overall program strategy.
What you will accomplish:
Work closely with product teams including design, design systems, engineering, research, content, and product management to integrate accessibility into the development process
Collaborate with regulatory and legal partners to ensure that all accessibility-related regulations are met
Develop and manage relationships with external suppliers to support accessibility initiatives
Assist in creating and implementing accessibility standard processes and guidelines within the product development process
Support the small accessibility team with day-to-day tasks and activities (ad hoc reviews, managing audit findings, active on Slack channels, etc.)
Closely partner with the Regulatory team to oversee and manage the compliance with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) for eBay websites and mobile apps
Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on accessibility progress
Define scope for regular audits and assessments to ensure ongoing compliance and identify potential issues
Promote awareness and understanding of accessibility issues within eBay
Organize and lead training sessions or workshops to educate teams about accessibility standards and practices
What you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Accessibility, or related area) or equivalent practical experience
Proven experience in accessibility product management or a related role, with a solid understanding of WCAG and EN 301 549
5+ years directly in the accessibility space
Familiarity with accessibility tools, assistive technology, and software for testing and monitoring compliance
Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights
Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey sophisticated accessibility concepts to a diverse audience.
General can-do attitude with a “let’s figure it out” approach.
IAAP certification, Experience with PDF remediation (or vendor engagement for the same), and Multilingual is a plus
