Operations Manager this position will be based in Abbott Vascular, Barceloneta, Puerto Rico.

The Opportunity

This position will provide support to our Abbott Vascular Medical Devices Manufacturing plant in the Barceloneta, PR.  Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks and Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.


As the Operations Manager you will provide direction, leadership, and management for all operations and/or product support within Finish Goods. Utilize key metrics to achieve product availability, compliance, operational and financial goals while driving a high level of performance within the functional area Actively support the personal and professional development of individuals. Foster continuous improvement and encourage open communication. Interacts effectively and cooperatively, handles changes in work tasks and environment and takes prompt action to accomplish objectives.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages Operations, support activities (i.e. SME for various teams, CAPA and compliance) and personnel within the functional area.
  • Supports product availability through efficient management of critical path operations and coordination with segment manager and support organizations.
  • Ensures compliance to GMP/ISO and Division Quality System requirements within Operations.
  • Makes timely and sound operational, business, and scientific decisions.
  • Appropriately recognizes and elevates high-risk decisions.
  • Works with technical areas and provides guidance and expertise to support production troubleshooting.
  • Translates organizational goals into functional area goals and establishes systems to meet goals.
  • Plans, manages, and updates budget and capital and recommends plans to resolve resource and financial gaps.
  • Presents, explains, and resolves variances to budget, material usage, material destruction orders and frozen standards.
  • Tracks and reviews daily indices (e.g., capacity, cycle time, OT, procedural errors). Applies standard problem-solving tools (e.g., fishbone diagram, pareto analysis) and recommends and implements corrective action so that the impact of the problem is minimized.
  • Interfaces with other areas to identify and solve problems.
  • Interprets data and information: Collects, analyzes, and transmits financial and technical data and information, forecasts future performance based on history and environmental changes, assesses impact of decisions and actions on own area as well as other areas of the organization.
  • Meets all personnel-related requirements and deadlines, such as performance appraisals, merit budgets, etc.
  • Actively supports the implementation and execution of the identified projects. Identify projects to improve processes and /or cost reductions.
  • Maintain ownership and management responsibility for facility, utility and equipment (FUE), as well as FUE and process validations/qualifications within the functional area.
  • Support ancillary activities associated with FUE and validations/qualifications.
  • Maintains leadership and accountability for all activities within Operations by timely decision making, motivating people, project management and ensures that all operations maintain compliance with Division’s Quality System.
  • Ensures product availability through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects within the functional area. Is accountable for budget performance within the functional area.
  • Manages assigned projects; including organizing and working cross-functionally and on teams, identify changes, providing guidance/direction, training, and necessary resources.
  • Responsible for establishing a positive environment, communicating department objectives and results.
     

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Preferrable; master's degree in engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 9 years Related technical or operations discipline. Educational background and relevant work experience needed to effectively manage a manufacturing work team through technical product/process issues while maintaining compliance with Quality System requirements.   
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in manufacturing and/or technical operations functions. Knowledge of the Quality System with understanding of the CAPA system and interrelated systems.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience leading manufacturing operations supervisors and direct labor.
  • Demonstrated ability to make timely, competent, and credible decisions while evaluating short and long-term benefits and risks is required. Must have the ability to problem solve, mentor, and manage multiple projects and/or personnel. Leadership, professionalism, ethical, strong communication and presentation skills are required. Demonstrated success in error resolution, conflict management and working in a team environment. This individual will need to interface with individuals from various disciplines and areas within and outside of Division.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in Spanish and English.
  • Digital skills. Software Microsoft office proficient knowledge.

     

The base pay for this position is

$100,000.00 – $200,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
