What you will do:

  • Ensure that mechanical maintenance work is performed in compliance with regulations and company O&M procedure requirements.

  • Be aware of and follow Company safety and work policies.

  • Perform emergency response first responder duties.

  • Complete all mandatory safety training.

  • Complete all required technical training, Operator Qualified (OQ) training and certifications.

  • Develop and complete equipment lock-outs.

  • Perform preventative and repair maintenance on all aspects of pipeline associated equipment with the intent to operate the line at optimum efficiency.

  • Use maintenance software to document maintenance work.

  • Collaborate with the Technical Supervisor, other Electrical Technicians, and Mechanical Technicians, to plan, schedule, and complete maintenance work efficiently and effectively.

  • Maintain facility records and update drawings as required.

  • Assist Electrical Technicians as required.

  • Assist project teams with construction projects as assigned: design reviews, hazard assessments, pre-bid tours, pre-construction meetings, mechanical equipment installation, and equipment commissioning.

  • Communicate with and maintain a positive working relationship with the Control Center operators, Operations and Maintenance personnel, and other internal and external customers.

  • Follow all DOT rules and regulations as they apply to pipeline operations.

  • Responsible for the mechanical maintenance of terminal and pumping station equipment along with remote valve sites.

  • Responsible for acquisition of parts and supplies related to repairs.

  • Occasional daily travel of 50-150 miles between assigned stations.

  • Occasional Travel between 100-300 miles each way for emergencies, training, and regional meetings.

Who you are:

You have the following education and/or experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 1 to 2 years of directly relevant training and experience

  • Excellent trouble shooting ability

  • Valid driver’s license & good driving record

  • Must live (or relocate) within 25 miles of the reporting location

Preferred:

  • Technical or vocational degree/certificate

  • Experience in maintenance of crude oil pipeline, tank farm or delivery facilities

  • Familiarity with pertinent equipment (pumps, motors, valves, switchgear, programmable logic controls, motor control centers and instrumentation).

Working Conditions:

  • Available for emergency call via mobile phone, or home phone 24 hours a day.

  • Periodically designated as on-call technician for a week at a time.

  • 75% field mechanical maintenance work and 25% field office work.

  • Occasional work in extreme cold and extreme heat.

  • Must be able to physically perform heavy manual work including climbing storage tanks and lifting up to 50lbs.

  • Work often required in high noise level areas and areas where vapor from crude oil and solvents may be present.

  • Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record

  • Overnight travel of 10-40 days per year may be required.

  • Primarily field oriented (outdoor) with specific office (indoor) functions for training, meetings and documentation of required tasks, dictated by Department of Transportation and other regulatory agencies for which Enbridge must comply.

Physical Requirements:

Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 50 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Mental Requirements:

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
