  • Salary HEW 8 ($116,551 - $128,688) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

About the Position 
The Senior Coordinator, Planning & Operations (within the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing) is responsible for ensuring key School operations, initiatives and projects are effectively planned and efficiently implemented. This pivotal role manages the timetabling process and its dependencies and constraints, coordinates staffing allocations with relevant stakeholders, and oversees casual/sessional engagement and pay processes for more than 100 sessional staff. With a strong focus on sessional management and compliance, you’ll provide high-level oversight of timetabling while ensuring robust, efficient processes. Drawing on your understanding of School and College operations, you’ll translate high-level concepts into detailed, achievable plans, enabling the Dean and School Manager, Planning & Operations (SMPO) to focus on strategic and tactical matters, and contributing to outstanding service delivery across the School and College. 

 

About You 
You bring strong coordination, planning and compliance skills, with an eye for detail and a commitment to high-quality, customer-focused service. You build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and enjoy working in a busy, complex environment where you can influence and improve operational outcomes. You are a confident and competent Excel user, comfortable working with complex workbooks and using data to solve problems and improve processes. A background in HR, operations or a similar area will be highly regarded, and you are genuinely interested in being the trusted 2IC to the SMPO, with opportunities for learning the broader SMPO role and gaining ad hoc exposure to finance.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, enabling collaboration on complex, sensitive and confidential issues. 

  • Strong stakeholder relationship skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and deliver customer-focused solutions. 

  • Proven ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and systems consistently, provide clear advice, and drive creative solutions through to implementation. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions in a complex environment. 

  • Effective organisational skills in planning, developing, implementing, operating and reviewing resources and/or services to achieve a high-quality environment. 

  • Operational planning and project management experience, including experience in leading or delivering change management. 

  • Ability to collect and analyse data, produce insightful reports, and develop and implement strategies that address areas of weakness. 

  • Competence and confidence with Excel to support planning, reporting, compliance and continuous improvement activities.

About the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing 

The school began as the Department of Economics and Finance in 1990 and in 2005 the discipline of Marketing joined the Department to become the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing. As a School we aim to provide practical, relevant, and innovative economics, finance, marketing, blockchain enabled business and social impact programs; research; industry training and consulting which graduates, employers, industry and university peers acknowledge as amongst the best available in the international marketplace.
