Leidos is currently interviewing Software Engineer Interns for Summer 2025. Positions are located in Arlington (Ballston), VA.
We seek college technical interns to be part of a team of engineers addressing emerging challenges in Maritime Systems. The candidate will be assigned tasks that are relevant and necessary to the successful execution of Leidos contracts. Leidos will provide the candidate with real world experience and technical and career mentorship throughout the internship/co-op, which may result in full-time employment opportunities upon graduation.
Last year’s interns/co-ops supported real testing as part of an integrated test team, wrote user interface and simulation software that is in use today, and took charge of our cybersecurity strategy. In addition to these kinds of tasks, other work assignments, depending on ability and interest, may include developing algorithms and computer models, supporting the design of autonomous vehicles, performing model runs, benchmarking hardware performance, building user interfaces, tuning radar/optical systems, and performing sea test data analysis.
The position may require paid travel to either our integration facility in Long Beach, MS, or to test facilities in the Virginia Beach, VA or San Diego, CA, areas.
Required Skills:
Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
Must be junior or senior class level, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Must be experienced with C++.
Must have experience working within a Linux environment.
US citizenship is required, as well as eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Must be available to support full-time co-op this fall onsite at our Arlington, VA location.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership ability through community or campus involvement. Most importantly, an entrepreneurial, motivated, self-starter attitude is required.
Desired Skills:
Experience in one of the following is helpful, but not required: surface or underwater vehicles, game theory, cybersecurity, autonomy, environmental modeling, simulations or communication protocols, human factors, or user interface development.
While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
