About AQR Capital Management
AQR is a global investment firm built at the intersection of financial theory and practical application. We strive to deliver concrete, long-term results by looking past market noise to identify and isolate the factors that matter most, and by developing ideas that stand up to rigorous testing. By putting theory into practice, we have become a leader in alternative strategies and an innovator in traditional portfolio management since 1998.
At AQR, our employees share a common spirit of academic excellence, intellectual honesty, and an unwavering commitment to seeking the truth. We’re determined to know what makes financial markets tick – and we’ll ask every question and challenge every assumption. We recognize and respect the power of collaboration, and we believe transparency and openness to new ideas leads to innovation.
AQR is seeking a seasoned Consultant Relations professional to support, and lead the firm’s relationships with the investment consultant community in the Eastern U.S. AQR has a long history of strong investment consultant relationships across all levels of consulting firms. The firm has seen sustained positive performance in its suite of investment offerings, and this hire will drive AQR’s relationships with investment consultants that have a presence in the Eastern U.S. This professional will be suitably based to cover this region.
This hire will be responsible for initiating and developing relationships with Research, Field Consultants, Capital Markets teams, OCIO teams, and Senior Management at these organizations. For organizations based in the Eastern U.S., this person will play a key role in strategically supporting and leading these firm-wide relationships. He/she will consistently cover the field consultants and other relevant personnel for consultants that have offices in the Eastern U.S.
AQR’s investment strategies, particularly those that are alternative in nature (approximately $50bn of the firm’s $110bn in assets), have enjoyed a sustained period of very strong performance in recent years. These strategies are mostly quantitative in nature, and AQR has a philosophy of being highly transparent with consultants, clients, and prospects. In order to be highly effective in this setting, the ideal candidate for this role will have a knowledge and/or technical aptitude as it relates to quantitative strategies, and he/she will also have a high level of intellectual curiosity and the ability and desire to truly educate investment consultants on these strategies.
This hire will be asked to develop and efficiently deliver on a strategy to drive new business and retain existing business in this investment consultant territory. This hire should have a “building” mentality, and he/she should have a good handle on the full landscape of consultants with a presence in the Eastern U.S. It is not a prerequisite that this candidate has directly covered all of these consultants, but they must be familiar with the key players. It is critical that this person has the technical, consultative approach that is important with consultants, and that he/she is also highly commercial and is skilled at working closely with both direct salespeople and direct LPs throughout the sales and relationship process.
This hire will be part of a highly collaborative team, and he/she will have a strong level of both Portfolio Manager and analyst support in this role. This hire must combine the sales tenacity that is necessary in this market with a high degree of intelligence and investment sophistication, and a real desire to both educate and build over time. We are also looking for a candidate who embodies the core attributes of AQR: highly collaborative, team oriented, self-driven and self-accountable, and consistently driving to make both himself/herself and the entire team and firm better. This person will be responsible for gathering key market intelligence and sharing valuable insights with AQR colleagues.
Qualifications for this role will include but will not be limited to the following:
The salary range for this role is expected to be $200,000 to $225,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is accurate for this role at the time of this posting.
