POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Nursing Simulation Lab

STATUS: Part time

DEPARTMENT: Nursing

DIVISION: Academic Affairs

REPORTS TO: Cindy Bochenek, Simulation Specialist

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

MINIMIUM PAY RATE: $14.00 per hour

(Position is FWS Eligible)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Clean and prepare each nursing classroom daily for topics being instructed for the next class.
2. Inventory supplies and notify clerical staff of items needed for ordering.
3. Make all classroom beds and launder bed linens as needed during the semester.
4. File, fax, copy, type, and create documents as requested by management clerical staff.
5. Organize and clean storage room and classrooms on a daily basis.
6. Create simulated blood, fill vials, create displays for special events, and various other items for classroom topic requirements.
7. Move mannequins, equipment, and supplies to and from classrooms and storage room.
8. Assist simulation coordinator with creation of various items needed for the student simulation experience.
9. Provide physical coverage during times of absence in the tutoring lab while still supporting the daily functioning of clinical topic classrooms and management/clerical needs.
10. Support management and clerical staff with all set-ups of classrooms based on the topic being taught in a given week.
11. Load carts, assemble student packages and create stations based upon needs of special events such as skills testing, IV skills, critical thinking, seminars, etc.
12. Create scenarios based upon the setup books for topic being taught such as critical thinking events.
13. Learn nursing vocabulary in order to assist instructors with needs of the classroom.
14. Greet and assist students with questions or needs.
15. Track and manage time at work and accurately submit timesheets to the appropriate department for payment.
16. Replenish gloves; replace full sharps containers, stock dry erase markers in all classrooms in the U building on a weekly basis.
17. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. 2.5 GPA or higher
2. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
3. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
4. Professional in appearance and demeanor.

5. Must be available to work Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am –9:00 pm, up to 20 hours per week.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Medical knowledge

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Normal office physical demands.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment

Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
