National Sales Manager, Rare Disease Business Unit (RDBU)

This critical role is accountable to manage and build out the growing Amgen RDBU sales organization, supporting the ongoing launch of UPLIZNA® in NMOSD, and upcoming launches of TEPEZZA® in TED & UPLIZNA in IgG4. This Sr. Leader position is responsible for leading a growing sales team to establish Amgen as valued strategic partner in the Rare Disease space and ensure Canadian patients have timely & appropriate access to Amgen medicines. Critical to success will be the ability to build an engaged & high performing sales organization, provide strategic insights on customer facing dynamics and forge strong relationships with internal senior level decision makers to ensure achievement of BU strategic organizational mission/goals.

The goal is to establish Amgen Canada as a leader in Rare Disease patient care by aligning customer facing activities to therapeutic area customer’s values and patient focused outcomes. The RDBU Sales Lead will be responsible for a team of seven field representatives across Canada focused on account engagement and business development in the RD market. This will require strong leadership skills, proven strategic expertise, focus on business development, collaborating closely with cross functional partners, including Patient Services and Value & Access, and the ability to orchestrate internal/field resources around major account opportunities.

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to:

  • Delivery of National Sales Results and Account Objectives to realize Amgen’s mission and commitment of serving Patients.
  • Shape the future of the Rare Disease organization by hiring, training, and coaching new TEPEZZA sales force and preparing existing UPLIZNA sales team for IgG4 launch.
  • Leading RD sales organization and form a highly engaged and performance driven team culture; establish robust goal setting & career development framework, transparent & measurable competency/coaching model, and empower autonomy/flexibility for sales team members to leverage cross-functional resources to achieve account objectives.
  • Actively engage in strategic planning to ensure customer facing perspective is reflected in data-driven decision making. Apply industry knowledge, healthcare-ecosystem trends, customer feedback and clinical knowledge, to demonstrate value of Amgen’s products.
  • Ensuring passion for performance and achievement, is balanced with patient centricity and compliance – win the right way.
  • Develop team competencies in strategic account engagement and analysis in the development of robust customer centric account plans and business cases and engaging both internal and external customers in their development and deployment.
  • Demonstrate sales leadership by interpreting market analysis, planning/organizing key meetings and input into sales and expense forecasts.

Travel:

  • This position will require national travel.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of pharmaceutical/medical industry experience

Minimum 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience of brand teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical/medical industry experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English & French is an asset.
  • Proven track-record of leading high-performing teams, demonstrating a passion for coaching, talent development and situational leadership skills.
  • Experience in Rare Disease Strategic Account Management a strong asset.
  • Experience in Neurology, Ophthalmology, and/or Endocrinology a strong asset.
  • Proven track-record of cross-functional collaboration and working well with others to achieve organizational goals.
