Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced M&A Corporate Development Manager to join our global M&A team. We value individuals that can contribute to our growth-oriented culture and deepen our domain expertise. Our team includes a mix of seasoned founders, CEOs, CFOs and, product leaders, as well as M&A and business development professionals who work hard and have fun doing it.

As a member of our global M&A team and the leader of business development activities for the portfolio, you will lead our efforts in the identification of new acquisition targets and relationship building with existing targets. You will build strategies for engagement with companies in the software industry and develop creative methods for outreach. This critical function impacts the entire M&A cycle and helps spur our growth.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the business development teams' efforts for the Portfolio

  • Develop strategies for outreach for the M&A team to initiate and strengthen relationships with target companies

  • Conduct industry market research, build, and maintain an in-depth market mapping of vertical market software companies

  • Build a business development engine that fills a pipeline of qualified acquisition targets

  • Represent the Portfolio by engaging in dialogue with software company owners/executives, financial advisors, investment bankers, and private equity firms while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism

  • Identify, manage, and participate in industry events with the intent to build C-level relationships

  • Obtain financial and operational information from business owners, brokers, and banks, and update the proprietary CRM system

  • Assist the Portfolio M&A deal team with acquiring companies

  • Develop M&A business development team members

Education and Qualifications

  • Strong academic performance and a Business/Finance/Economics degree

  • 6 – 8 years of experience in a business development/lead generation role, ideally in a B2B environment.

  • Experience in M&A business development, or a leadership position within a vertical market software company is an asset

  • Experience in managing a team of business development professionals

  • Strong business acumen is required to understand underlying business drivers and comfort with technical tools and systems

  • Experience in leading and managing a business development team

  • Excellent Excel skills and strong PowerPoint skills with strong CRM experience.

  • Interested in conducting thoughtful analysis and concise presentations that will be delivered to senior executives, both internally and to target companies

  • High-quality decision-making, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly while dealing with ambiguity and imperfect data

  • Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task between various ongoing responsibilities

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the confidence and polish to speak with business owners, senior executives, and external professional firms

  • Strong understanding of technology and the software industry is an asset

  • Ability to travel domestic and international 25% of the time
