The Director of Medical Communications and Scientific Training will lead the development of US Immunology Integrated Scientific Communication Plan inclusive of medically-driven education, congress activities, publications, internal scientific training, and content to support external engagement. This person will also be accountable for the development of the omni-channel strategy and will execute medical communications in a data-driven customer-focused manner with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Regularly updates the US Medical Integrated Scientific Communication plan and contributes to the scientific narrative for Benlysta with consideration of evidence generation plans, medicine strategy, and US marketplace.

  • Provides a strong US voice and is jointly accountable for the development of global scientific content for Benlysta.

  • Leads the development and delivery of the omni-channel customer experience and associated medical communications across channels including our medical website, third-party educational platforms, email, social media, and others as appropriate. Develops key performance indicators to measure impact and uses data and analytics to optimize the customer experience.

  • Accountable for the development and delivery of the medical curriculum/ scientific training related to Benlysta for the internal and field medical teams.

  • Supports the USMA immunology congress plan and associated medical communication activities, including symposia content, media, and other associated medical communications.

  • Accountable for accurate scientific deliverables and following GSK policies and processes for all activities.

  • For all deliverables, collaborates with medical experts as appropriate and cross-functional internal teams inclusive of clinical development, medical, and marketing.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PhD, PharmD, MD, or advanced science degree (Master of Science, MPH).

  • 3+ years experience in Medical Affairs or Scientific Communications

  • Experience in developing scientific content (i.e., scientific slides, digital medical education, etc)

  • Experience in leading and working within cross-functional teams.

  • Experience interpreting, analyzing, and organizing scientific data.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience in scientific communications (i.e., developing scientific platforms, narratives)

  • Demonstrates strong communication skills and presentation skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience with strategic and tactical planning.

  • Ability to work with new technology and teach others.

  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and communicate to diverse audiences. 

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Demonstrated matrix leadership.
