Summary of Job Duties:

The Assistant Professor position is a full-time faculty position in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure eligible).

Qualifications:

Ph.D or M.D. required.

Responsibilities:

• Establish a new research laboratory and develop the foundation for a productive, competitive research program during the first year.

• Conduct innovative research that results in high-quality publications and pursue external funding opportunities through agencies such as NIH/NCI, DoD, the American Cancer Society, and NSF.

• Provide hands-on research training and mentor graduate students to support their academic and professional development.

• Teach graduate-level courses and contribute to curriculum needs within the department and the College of Medicine.

• Engage in a collaborative and collegial research community to advance institutional scientific goals.

• Align research, teaching, and service efforts with departmental priorities and personal career aspirations to support long-term professional growth.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is a Designated Research Position and is regulated by the Arkansas Research Education Protection Act of 2025.
