Job Summary

Patient Relation Representatives effectively and efficiently troubleshoot and investigate to resolve customer grievances/complaints. Ensures excellent service standards, responds to customer inquiries and maintain high customer satisfaction, while acting as a liaison between the customer and hospital personnel.

Essential Functions

  • Receives and investigates patient complaints; achieves resolution; provides feedback to customers; performs service recovery.
  • Acts as a liaison between staff and patients/family members; contacts family members, chaplains, transportation, etc., completes call backs.
  • Emergency Center setting:
    -Mentors Comfort Care Aides/Volunteers.
    -Assists in the new hire and ongoing customer service education for Emergency Center staff.
  • In-Patient Family Experience department setting:
    -Participates as a member of the Palliative Care interdisciplinary team.
    -Functions as a liaison between patient, families, and the clinical team.
  • Obstetrics/Labor & Delivery setting:
    -Greets patients and responds to telephone inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.  Refers patients or calls to the appropriate personnel.
    -Enters pertinent patient registration data into H.I.S. accurately and completely.
    -Secures signatures from the patients for consent for treatment and release of information from the patient.
    -Maintains knowledge of third party payor and reimbursement procedures as they relate to the registration process.
    -Prepares and distributes appropriate patient charts.
    -Pre-registers scheduled and outpatients for Labor and Delivery patients.
    -Maintains 24-hour census by recording all admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Exemplifies the standards of service, ownership, attitude, and respect; demonstrates service excellence.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2 years of relevant experience 2-3 years of customer relations experience

Preferred

  • 2 years of relevant experience 2-3 years of customer relations experience in Healthcare
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire
