The Project

ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.

Project scope includes:

• Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
• Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
• Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway

In line with the above, ACCIONA is now looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join the Western Harbour Tunnel Project.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Lead the daily management of project construction activities for the Mechanical scope(s)
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety standards, company policies and best practices.
• Develop, monitor, and control the project installation schedule to ensure timely completion.
• Plan, manage, and execute site installation activities in compliance with the contract and site-specific requirements.
• Manage scope changes, deliverables, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
• Monitor, inspect and report on workforce and subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with technical, schedule, quality, environmental, safety, and commercial requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, providing input on constructability, safety, site access, and related issues.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Prior experience in a similar role.
• Experience in subcontractor management, including program coordination, quality assurance, and commercial oversight.
• Well-developed leadership and management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
