Job Description

The Project

ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.

Project scope includes:

  • Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
  • Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
  • Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway

In line with the above, ACCIONA is now looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer – Fire Detection to join the Western Harbour Tunnel Project. As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering the Fire Detection Package for the project.

Specific Tasks Include:

  • Day-to-day management of project construction activities
  • Development, monitoring, and control of project installation schedule for the scope
  • Plan, manage and implement the site installation activities necessary to ensure all site-specific and contract requirements are met.
  • Monitor and report the performance of the workforce and subcontractors on site to ensure technical, program, quality, environmental, safety and commercial obligations are achieved and maintained.
  • Attend design reviews and provide advice relating to constructability, safety, site access and associated issues.
  • Manage changes to scope, deliverables, schedule, and budget.

Required Skills and Competencies

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated Practical experience with fire detection.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / electrical engineering (or similar).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Fire Systems.
  • Subcontractor management experience.
  • Well-developed leadership and management skills.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
