Job Description Summary

In the role of Supplier Quality Manager – Mechanical, you will:
Lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers that are responsible for all components within the Mechanical Center of Excellence, which may include, but not limited to: Drives, Bearings, Hardware, Tooling

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

In this role, you will: 

  • Lead Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP) strategies based on Advance Quality Planning Principles (APQP) in support of our New Product Introduction process and our Sourcing strategies for alternative source development.
  • Drive strong partnerships with Engineering and the Sourcing PM&O office counterparts to facilitate cross functional concurrent product and process development within the APQP framework and aligned to our NPI integrated schedule.
  • Develop Supplier Surveillance strategies that define the audit plan for the Mechanical CoE suppliers, in compliance to our QMS requirements, risk mitigation strategies and underwriting expectations.
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis investigations by supporting the Fleet Performance Management team where required and driving the team accountable to ensure supplier lead Root Cause Analysis are following an effective 8D methodology when required
  • Own accountability for Key Performance Indicators and Targets to Improve for the Mechanical SQ Bowler
  • Set priorities for the Mechanical Supplier Quality Engineers, and drive the People Performance & Growth cycles to promote talent, growth, and accountability within the Supplier Quality Organization

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Masters Engineering degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process in the automotive, wind or similar industrial sectors. Alternatively, 10 years of Product Development with Design For Six Sigma Certification or equivalent experience
  • Requires approximately 30-50% travel, including international.

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated experience with Quality Systems, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 9001 and/or VDA 6.3
  • Quality certifications such as Internal Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer, APQP/PPAP
  • DMAIC and/or DFSS Black Belt certification
  • Experience with Mechanical Equipment Manufacturing, and knowledge of special processes (Welding, Heat Treatment, Coating, NDT)
  • Demonstrated application of Problem Solving methodologies
  • Advanced Engineering and/or business degree
  • Demonstrated project management and process improvement skills
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
  • Flexibility in handling a diverse and challenging workload
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with fluency in English
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional and global team environment
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational abilities

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $149,400.00 and $248,900.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
