Our internship program is designed for students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, as well as individuals seeking to deepen their education through immersive, professional experience in the entertainment industry.
Department Description:
The intern program will consist of numerous research projects to be assigned by the EVP of Global Publicity and/or the Global Publicity team. These will include and not be limited to researching information regarding filmmakers, talent, reps, competitive releases, screenings, film festivals, venues, etc. The intern will also assist with updating department documents such as film calendars, strategy, memos, etc. The Summer 2026 intern will help the department with the preparation for upcoming events like domestic and international activations, participate in weekly publicity staff meetings, and work press junkets and premieres. The intern will also be asked to conduct script coverage and contribute creative ideas for global campaigns. The Global Publicity team works with filmmakers and talent reps to create the overall publicity campaign for a film. The Global Publicity team consists of three teams who are assigned specific film titles. Each team is made up of: SVPs, VPs, Directors, Senior Publicists, Junior Publicists, Coordinators and Assistants. The team also includes team members working across all titles in New York, London, Canada, Photo, Events, and Social.
Responsibilities:
Researching and updating talent/filmmaker information in pertinent documents
Planning for and helping at Press Screenings, Junkets, & Premieres
Interacting with all global marketing departments including Digital/Social, Brand Management, Intersectional, Exhibitor/National Partnerships, Consumer Products/Experience, Operations, etc.
Monitoring domestic and international press (online, print, and broadcast)
Competitive research and other research projects on an as-needed basis
Qualifications:
Must currently be enrolled in school or university during the duration of the internship
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
Common sense, dependability and discretion are required
Preferred Qualifications:
Interest to pursue a career in Publicity, Marketing, and/or Communications
Proficient in Internet research and experience in a professional office environment
Entertainment experience preferred
Solid understanding of the Sony brand and internal synergy needs
