Position Scope & Accountability:
- Manages mid-large sized complex team(s) of development, typically over defined products
- Has accountability for the performance and results of a team within own discipline or function
- Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers
Management Responsibility & Functional Contribution:
- Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
- Ensures backlog grooming and decomposition / estimation of stories.
- Ensure development is performed according to estimates.
- Coordinate the team activity running or supervising the agile ceremonies.
- Ensures the right effort is allocated for bug-fixing to meet SLA and maintenance targets
Problem Solving & Critical Thinking:
- Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan
- Engages with Product Management to take in charge new developments and plan according to resources availability
Leadership:
- Drives engineering excellence and foster innovation
- Executes agreed actions aimed to improve quality also through the adoption of standard processes and tools
- Execute ongoing goal setting, performance and development reviews according to the THRIVE process
- Define and execute detailed technical training plans according to the workforce planning strategy
- Facilitate top-down communication to the team.
- Play the role of hiring manager in the recruitment process
- Influence decisions cross-functionally
Collaboration/Relationship Focus:
- Receives guidance from senior management
- Collaborate with other department heads to provide technical expertise in support of operational objectives
Qualification/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 12-15 years of strong technical experience in designing & developing products
- Experience utilizing Agile and Scrum software development methodologies
- Self-motivated, change management attitude
- High: Drive for results, collaboration, people focus, customer focus, accountability
- Demonstrable understanding of software engineering processes, including awareness of delivery requirements such as time and cost & an ability to recognize and manage performance with a focus on continuous improvement.
