The Watch Officer supports 24x7 overwatch of Cruise Autonomous Vehicle “AV” Operations. In this role, you will be a core member of The Bridge in our centralized Operations Control Center in Scottsdale, AZ. Across all markets, you will provide oversight to all potential issues or disruptions that may impact the fleet, escalate appropriately, and provide proper support within the correct response actions. You will use various tools, technology, and intelligence to coordinate a diverse set of operations team members.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide support with the entire AV fleet through a combination of direct monitoring and connecting with several functions that interact with the fleet and customers (AV Operations, Remote Assistance, Customer Support, Global Security, Incident Management, etc.).

  • Escalate operational irregularities to the OCC Duty Manager.

  • Assist in compiling the daily operational plan documents; identify and suggest plan modification for constraints as they arise.

  • Monitor operational execution relative to daily plan, consolidating operational information into clear and concise shift summaries, briefings, and company-wide reports and disseminate to leadership and commercial operations review.

  • Gather incident facts to document non-nominal events.

  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Serve as a centralized information hub in support of operational partners.

  • Learn cross-functional duties and cover other positions as necessary. 

  • Assist in the identification, triage, and reporting of crisis events, coordinating with Incident Management and Emergency Response teams.

  • Complete other tasks as directed by OCC leadership.

What you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience in an operational environment.

  • Dynamic personality well-versed in leading by example.

  • Ability to take a lead role managing through high pressure operational situations.

  • Committed with a can-do, team-player attitude. 

  • Ability to learn and use various technologies and tools.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication along with the ability to coordinate and work with many different organizations and team members.

  • Experience in start-up or tech companies

  • Experience working in the autonomous vehicle industry

  • Experience supporting rapidly scaling organizations

  • Experience in an OCC or similar environment

The hourly range for this position is $33 - $35/hr. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
