Ce cours a pour objet de répondre à l’appel à l’action no 28 de la Commission de vérité et réconciliation du Canada. Il vise, d’une part, à présenter l’histoire et les séquelles des pensionnats autochtones, la Déclaration des Nations Unies sur les droits des peuples autochtones, les traités et les droits des Autochtones, le droit autochtone, et les relations entre l’État et les Autochtones. Il vise, d’autre part, à favoriser le développement de compétences en matière d’aptitude interculturelle, de règlement de différends, des droits de la personne et de la lutte contre le racisme.

La Section de common law souhaite recruter des personnes qui se démarquent dans la profession juridique. Le candidat ou la candidate doit : être titulaire d’un LL.B. ou d’un J.D. (ou son équivalent) en common law canadienne ; être membre en bonne et due forme du Barreau de l’Ontario (ou d’un autre barreau canadien) ; et disposer d’une expertise reconnue dans le domaine du cours (le fait d’avoir donné ce cours avec succès dans le passé constitue un atout).
