We are seeking a Cost Manager to join a major programme within Amentum’s Defence and Asset Solutions Division. This role will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all cost-related disciplines within our Delivery Partnership PMO. Embedded within a collaborative partnership between our organisation and the client, you’ll define, implement and assure the programme’s cost management processes—ensuring transparent, accurate and timely financial control across our projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate P3 controls processes and procedures relating to Cost Management including templates aligned to industry best practice

  • Support the deployment of Project and Programme Cost reporting for Senior Leadership and the Client

  • Develop relationships with internal stakeholders and client teams.

  • Work with the PC Director and the leads for Planning, Risk and Change to provide an integrated project controls approach

  • Review monthly forecasts to understand variances

  • Work with the project teams to deliver Earned Value metrics

  • Work with the Client to support their Cost Forecasting requirements.

  • Act as the go-to SME on cost estimation and variance analysis, working with the project team to implement best and emerging practises

  • Conduct cost assurance reviews and recommend corrective actions.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring and knowledge sharing to the team and cost resources within the programme.

About You

Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience in cost forecasting, budgeting, and control.

  • Proficiency with Excel and Cost Management Tools (Costpoint, SAP, PRISM).

  • Understanding of how Primavera P6, Power BI, Power Automate can support cost management

  • Exceptional data-analysis, financial modelling and variance-analysis abilities

  • Strong stakeholder management, able to influence Senior Leaders and Client peers.

  • Demonstrable experience running cost assurance reviews.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Education

  • Degree in Engineering, Programme Management, Business or a related field.

  • Experience in cost management roles on complex programmes.

  • Certifications encouraged: CCC, CCE, MSP Practitioner, PSP, EVP, PMP, CAPM.

  • Continuous professional development in digital cost-management tools and techniques.
