​​About the Role:

The Compounding Staff Pharmacist is responsible for supervising all compounding activities in the compounding laboratory. The Compounding Staff Pharmacist performs various checks throughout the compounding process. This role supervises Technicians and provides a supportive environment for accurate and efficient compounding of the highest quality compounded medications. You are also responsible for assisting in compliance measures with the compounding labs, and developing processes, SOP's, and training manuals. This role will report to the Head Compounding Pharmacist and the Pharmacist-In-Charge.

The Compounding Staff Pharmacist demonstrates a commitment to the mission of the pharmacy and goals of Hims & Hers.  You will strive to maximize quality and patient safety while dispensing medication in accordance with federal and state pharmacy regulations.

You Will:

  • Directly supervise all compounding personnel namely pharmacy technicians and essential pharmacy support personnel
  • Perform and accurately document compounding procedures, quality assurance/quality control checks, and dispensing of compounded preparations
  • Verify formula records, compounding records, beyond use dates, and finished compounded products.
  • Assist in the training and evaluation of compounding personnel
  • Coordinate the calibration, maintenance, and use of equipment to compound prescription orders and monitor the compounding environment in conjunction with the maintenance team
  • Follow all safety, USP, BOP, and internal guidelines for the preparation of compounded medications.
  • Maintain a safety-first mindset and ensure precautions are taken in all compounding activities within the lab, including when working with hazardous chemicals  in accordance with USP <800> and applicable laws
  • When required, wear all personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Must have knowledge of all principles, theories and laws, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding- specifically USP <795>, <800>, other USP general chapters, and best compounding practices
  • Perform pharmacist related activities such as patient consultation and error documentation
  • Coordinate with the Pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) for personnel, compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives, projects, tasks, and audits as part of our Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program.
  • Willingness to complete external training as required
  • Drive quality efforts by adhering to standard operating procedures
  • Follow all state and pharmacy regulations and rules as designated by the Arizona State of Pharmacy and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment as mandated by the FDA’s rules and regulations
  • Provide a world class pharmacy experience for every one of our patients
  • Perform pharmacist duties such as drug utilization reviews, patient counseling, and dispensing activities
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, and verifying order entries, charges, and inspections
  • Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Perform other tasks as assigned including, but not limited to: inventories, project work, compounding, record keeping, training, technician tasks and auditing processes

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy 
  • Active Pharmacist License in Arizona
  • Effective knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws, rules and regulations related to the practice of pharmacy
  • 5+ years of pharmacist experience, at least 3 in a compounding pharmacy
  • Non-sterile compounding experience
  • Strong math skills
  • Must be able to undergo respirator fit testing - Full beards or a lot of facial hair may prevent a proper seal for the respirator
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be capable of working with small, delicate pieces of expensive machinery to complete appropriate dosage forms in a timely manner
  • Must be able to work cross-functionally with remote teams
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Pharmacists will work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking; for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to wear required compounding safety equipment for long periods of time when required.
  • Ability to work flexible shift times
  • Proficiency in English, verbal and written
  • Proficiency in Windows based computer systems
  • Mail Service/Mail Order pharmacy experience a plus 
  • Multi-state licensure is preferential

Conditions of Employment: 

  • This position will require working with Hazardous Drugs (HD) and would require that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) be worn for the length of working with these drugs. These items would include gloves, respiratory protection, gown and other items as required.
  • This position requires medical approval to wear respiratory protection in the form of negative or positive pressure respirators, including N95, full face respirator, SCBA, or Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).
  • Physical exertion required. Including, but not limited to, walking up to 50% of the time, standing up to 100% of the time, squatting and bending up to 20% of the time and lifting up to 80% of the time for up to a twelve hour shift. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Due to the risk of reproductive capability in handling or compounding certain Hazardous Drugs (HD) associates must be willing to confirm that they understand the potential risks (teratogenicity, carcinogenicity and reproductive effects) of handling hazardous drugs.

 

Outlined below is a reasonable estimate of H&H’s compensation range for this role for US-based candidates. If you're based outside of the US, your recruiter will be able to provide you with an estimated hourly range for your location.

The actual amount will take into account a range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and location. H&H also offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package that may include an equity grant.
