About the Practice 

Radiation Oncology is a subspecialty in Cancer Care that offers professional growth and critical understanding of cancer treatment. This practice supports patients on the Lakeshore who require highly advanced cancer treatment. Our department has 8 physicians that rotate between all 3 of our West Michigan Radiation oncology sites within Corewell Health, one physician being on site daily. Our physicians see patients for consultation and support symptom management throughout our patient’s radiation oncology journey. This office offers a team focused environment. This team works to collaborate with other health systems on the lakeshore to ensure continuity of care for our patients. Our team works to care for each individual patient and their families every day, while growing in their knowledge of this highly specialized field.

About Outpatient Clinics

Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area.

Scope of work

Under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, uses advanced clinical skills to accurately simulate on CT simulators, deliver, verify and record routine as well as advanced courses of treatment. Assumes shift accountability including machine warm-ups. Cleans, disinfects and maintains supplies and equipment in the treatment and simulation rooms as appropriate. Participates in annual educational seminars as well as departmental and organizational projects and committees. Utilizes independent judgment and problem solving skills in communicating with patients/family members and employees.

Qualifications

  • Required Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field Required

  • 2 years of relevant experience in an approved Radiation Therapy setting Required

  • CRT-Radiation Therapist - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Required upon hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross required within first 90 days
