The Associate Director, Product, Math Special Projects will be the leader of the vision, product strategy, and roadmap for new core projects. The Associate Director will own product planning and execution in research, design, development, and execution of special projects targeted to serve key markets. The Associate Director will contribute to core math product roadmap, speaking for special project initiatives and their key drivers and anticipated developments in these new markets.

Partnering with math leadership and other company stakeholders, the Associate Director will lead the product process from start to finish. The Associate Director will develop a product plan that accounts for build, improvement, and maintenance phases of products. The Associate Director will develop the vision for special projects, lead concept exploration, testing, and prototyping, build the product strategy, and ensure strong tactical execution against that plan. The Associate Director will work closely with the Adoptions, K-5, and 6-12 core math product teams to leverage existing products across the math suite with the goal of investment efficiency. 

The Associate Director will work with leaders from across departments to ensure the design and development of the program adheres to the product vision and remains aligned to customer needs in each new market. The Associate Director will serve as the champion and voice of the program with internal and external stakeholders for each project they lead, working closely with the teams who help market, launch, sell, and support the program. 

The Associate Director will report to the VP, Product, Core Math K-12.

Responsibilities of the Associate Director, Product, Math, Special Projects:

Product Research and Design - Lead the team to concept, design, and build out initiatives that target new opportunities. Lead planning and execution of prototype development and validation through user experience testing and live classroom sessions. Coordinate with project managers to create efficient timelines and regularly report on progress against those timelines. Create research plans, interview participants, analyze data, and recommend actions based on findings.

Market Research - Set research strategy and plan for new projects, partnering with marketing, market research, curriculum, sales, and the core math directors to collect insights and understand market trends and requirements. Present insights to stakeholders and use market intelligence to direct product strategy and requirements. Work to exhaustively understand market requirements in the markets represented in special projects. Research the competitive product landscape to inform product, design, and development decisions. Integrate research findings into strategic planning and product development.

Build Customer and Sales Relationships - Forge strong relationships with customers to build direct channels for insights and feedback. Work closely with sales teams to collaborate on research, events/conferences, adoption roadmaps, and product strategy. 

Team Leadership – Communicate product goals and objectives regularly to your project team to motivate them, and empower them to take on work they think is best based on the prioritized backlog. Support team members where necessary to overcome challenges and find solutions.

Product Development – Serve as the leader of the project’s cross-functional team to plan, develop, and deliver finished products.  Actively participate in the team’s ceremonies and be readily available to address questions, concerns, and blockers. Partner with the project management, curriculum, and design teams to ensure regular coordination of features and product design guidelines throughout the product development phase. Collaborate with math supplemental, math assessment, and platform teams on the development of new features and functionality, prioritization and sequencing of deliverables on the platform roadmap, and advocating for math-specific needs.

Basic Qualifications of the Associate Director, Product, Math, Special Projects:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience in K-12 educational product development

  • Experience designing and developing print and digital products for education

  • Proven research and analysis skills

Preferred Qualifications of the Associate Director, Product, Math, Special Projects:

  • Advanced degree

  • Background in mathematics education or related field

  • Background in technology, design, and user experience

  • Classroom teaching experience at the elementary, middle, or high school level

  • Strong organizational skills and great attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

What we offer:

The gross annualized salary range for this role is $115,000 - $140,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
